Did you hear the voice-over for the journal, and the other items? I missed it the first time through.quote:I might need to go pick up the third Myst book (already own the first two). Hell they could have just released and MP3 of that voice over and it would get me interested in the game. quote:That letter at the start of the Demo already has me wanting the whole story. They think they're playing it safe by going with what was proven to work a decade ago. It's these other companies (Ubi, Presto) that won't get out of a rut. "They" (as in Cyan) have not left the realtime graphics, and in fact their next game is rumoured to use some of the Plasma 2 engine used in Uru. You could give the player a flashlite or something too. The slide show style movement would make it very easy to get some incredible real time rendered scenes. that would work nicely.Personally, I think they could have done some much more impressive stuff using 3D graphics. Use a Dual Layer disc and just stream the content off of it. Perhaps this is why they are going DVD only. Considering how short the demo is, and that it was still 200Megs I would have to wonder what size the game is going to be at retail. Quote:Originally posted by deledrius:On that texture problem: I've heard (though I have no idea if it's true) that this demo is lower-res than the actual game in order to reduce the download size.Time will tell if the actual game looks better. I agree that the company hasn't been the same since Riven, but that's neither here nor there in regards to who makes what. The only difference is that the interface is a little less responsive, due to the animated cursor.quote:Originally posted by Skyler:quote:Originally posted by deledrius:(note that this Myst game, once again, is not being made by Cyan) Dude, let it go. It was also a good game, but financially a flop.quote:Question posed by Hamtaro:How does this one handle? Like a regular Myst game or more like Uru? It handles very similarly to Exile specifically, and Myst in general. The Myst games have all predominately covered aspects of the story around Atrus and the Stranger that assisted him.quote:Originally insulted by Zang:A flop Ouch. Uru takes place in the modern day and does not specifically tell the stories around Atrus' life (gleaned from the journals of his wife). It's nice touch, and I hope to see it used in the game in a clever wayquote:Question posed by zathras2:So what was Uru then? A spinoff? Officially, yes. Yeah, I love the sound reactiveness to touch. ![]()
